ACFID Connect on AI Learning Pathways: Resources, Training and Community

There is much to learn with AI but it can be hard to know where to start! Join Infoxchange, the ACFID Data Governance Community of Practice, and the ACFID Secretariat for a practical briefing on new opportunities to build AI capacity within your organisation and across the sector.

This session will introduce ACFID members to the Infoxchange's AI Asia-Pacific Nonprofit Learning Community, offering a guided tour of tools and resources designed to support AI literacy and application.

We’ll also share details about upcoming AI Foundations training, and invite members to participate in a new AI-focused discussion group within the Data Governance Community of Practice—creating space for shared learning, dialogue, and collaboration.

This is Q&A session designed for compliance contacts. No specific content will be covered as the Code Team will answer questions from attendees. Attendees do not have to stay for the whole session.

ACFID Connect Session: Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel

Join us for an update on Australia’s Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel with Assistant Secretary Bridie Rushton from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

With 2024 being the deadliest year on record for humanitarian workers, Australia has been leading a cross-regional Ministerial Group to develop practical solutions to better protect aid workers in conflict zones.

Bridie will provide an update on:

  • Final Declaration text
  • Plans for the launch during UN General Assembly High Level Week in September 2025
  • The proposed Group of Friends mechanism to support ongoing implementation

This session offers an opportunity to hear about this initiative ahead of World Humanitarian Day and discuss how the Australian humanitarian sector can engage with this important work.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Locally-Led Action Policy Writeshop

ACFID members are invited to join the upcoming online Locally Led Action Policy Writeshop. The purpose of the Writeshop is to help ACFID members develop a policy, statement or guideline that articulates their organisational commitment to locally-led action

 The Writeshop will be held online, over two sessions, and will be facilitated by Eleanor Loudon (Fit 4 Purpose). It is designed to be a safe and collaborative environment for ACFID members to discuss and share ideas, and will help members meet the new requirements in the ACFID Code related to locally-led action.

 Participants are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions in the Writeshop series.

 Dates: Wednesdays 28th May and 18th June

Times: 10am - 1pm AEST (on both Wednesdays)

Location: Online/Virtual. Log into MYACFID to register

Who should attend: Staff who have responsibility or input into policy development and/or locally led commitments and who can take carriage of this work over the longer term.

Meeting compliance against the revised Code

After a rigorous review, the revised ACFID Code of Conduct was ushered in June 2024. Now that members have had a chance to review their policies, formulate action plans, and reported against the revised Code - what have we learned? What the trends in reporting? How can Members with upcoming reporting meet compliance? 

This 90-min webinar hosted by the Code Team, with a special guest from the Code of Conduct Committee (CCC) will answer these questions and more. 

This session will cover:

  • Overview of the revised Code
  • Current compliance data on the revised Commitments, Compliance Indicators, and Verifiers 
  • Learnings and trends 
  • CCC guest speaker with tips and tricks on reporting (Tricia Keys, Act for Peace) 
  • FAQ including navigating the MYACFID portal, how to submit CSA and ERs, and approval responsibilities
  • Time for Q&A 

This event is aimed at all staff members and leadership teams that hold a responsibility for Code compliance, and are due to report on 30 May, 31 August and 30 November 2025.
