ACFID Connect Session: AIFFP Design Update

13 March 2026

ACFID has been engaging with DFAT colleagues on the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) to host a consultation with our members on its updated design. DFAT have shared the following description:

The AIFFP will be presenting to the members of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and other invited attendees to provide an overview of the AIFFP and an update on its current activities. The AIFFP team will also provide an update on it’s Pacific Climate Infrastructure Financing Partnership (PCIFP).

High-quality, sustainable infrastructure is an investment in a more connected and economically vibrant future. Australia is backing Pacific priorities and will invest an additional $550 million in official developmental assistance (ODA) grants through the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP), including for digital infrastructure development. The new commitment brings the AIFFP’s total facility financing to $4.55 billion, comprising a $3 billion loan cap and $1.55 billion in ODA grants.

Please join for the presentation and a Q&A on 13 March. An additional one-page document will be provided to attendees prior to the meeting.

ACFID Connect Session: DFAT Risk and Safeguarding Requirements

17 March 2026

The Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) will join us to delve into their procurement process. In 2024-25, NGOs accounted for only 9% of all DFAT procurement tenders, down from 13% in 2023-24. More importantly, none of these bids were won by NGOs in either of these years.

NGOs are typically 10% of attendees at procurement-related events and industry briefings, and participation could be higher. Knowledge gaps are among the factors that limit NGO participation in DFAT procurement tenders.

To address the gaps that limit NGO participation in DFAT procurement, ACFID hosted the first session of this series in December 2025, focused on doing business with DFAT and understanding its tender requirements. This second session will provide an overview of DFAT’s Development Risk Management framework, including links to implementation of investments including roles and accountabilities, ways of working and sharing of risk information and reports, outline the safeguards requirements that apply to DFAT business with a focus on policies relating to Child Protection, Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment, and Environmental and Social Safeguards.
